Promoting Peace from the Birthplace of the Prince of Peace

Responding to the Urgent Need for Peacemakers in a Violent World

The prophet Isaiah foretold a day in which people would cease to train for war, but rather begin to learn peace and beat their swords into implements for farming (Isaiah. 2.4).  Societies have taught for too long that violent conflict is the answer to the world’s problems.  The goal of the Bethlehem Institute of Peace and Justice is to teach that peacemaking through reconciliation and justice for all is a more effective and realistic path to resolve conflict than violence.   The programs of the Bethlehem Institute of Peace and Justice are critical in order to counter the assumption that violence is the default response to injustice. Without the work of the Institute and of other peacemakers, the “logic” of war could consume the Holy Land.
