Rethink Christian theology around war and justice in light of Gaza.

Rethink Christian theology around war and justice in light of Gaza.

As John in Revelation warns Christians to come out of the corruption and idolatry of the Roman Empire in his day, so Christians today are called to come out of and resist empire – those political structures that oppress the marginalized and compromise Christian life.

Theology in the Shadow of Gaza is a timely course that challenges participants to rethink Christian theology in light of the moral, biblical, and theological questions raised by the war in Gaza.

Drawing on the voices of Palestinian theologians, historians, biblical scholars, legal experts, and Jewish anti-Zionist thinkers, the course explores how Christians are called to respond when faith is used to justify oppression, and what faithful discipleship requires in a world marked by violence and empire.

Through fourteen engaging lectures, participants will wrestle with questions such as:

  • What has the church in Gaza witnessed through nearly two thousand years of Christian history?

  • How has Christian theology been used to justify injustice—and how can it be reclaimed?

  • What is Christian Zionism, and how should Christians respond to it?

  • What role do lament, repentance, and peacemaking play after Gaza?

  • What might a faithful Christian theology look like after genocide?

The course is fully asynchronous. Participants can access pre-recorded video lectures and readings at their own convenience.
